JA Solar Powers UN House of Diamniadio 2 MW Solar Project in Senegal
JA Solar Africa proudly led the installation of the 2 MW UN House of Diamniadio Solar Project in Senegal, a landmark initiative completed in November 2014. Located in Diamniadio, just 30 kilometers from Dakar, this project underscores JA Solar's commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions across Africa.
Project Highlights
The UN House of Diamniadio Solar Project, with a capacity of 2 MW, was designed to power the United Nations House and the International Conference Center Diamniadio. JA Solar supplied high-efficiency photovoltaic (PV) modules, covering 2.5 hectares, to generate 3.7 MWh annually—enough to power over 1,000 homes.
Collaborative Efforts
In partnership with Yingli Green Energy and Senelec, JA Solar served as the EPC contractor for this project. Supported by the Senegalese government and private financing, the initiative was completed in time for the XV Francophonie Summit, aligning with the UN's "From Blue to Green" sustainability goals.
Sustainable Impact
Featuring multicrystalline PV modules and a wastewater recovery system for irrigating green spaces, this project highlights JA Solar's dedication to eco-friendly innovation. It enhances the UN's operational efficiency while supporting Senegal’s renewable energy ambitions.
